What are the responsibilities and job description for the One-to-One Youth Mentor position at R. Willie Group?
We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate One-to One Youth Mentor to join our team who will be responsible for developing and nurturing positive connections with youth, families, and service providers. The ideal candidate will establish trust and rapport with our clients, promote skill-building and productive decision-making, and empower our clients to resolve current issues and develop coping strategies.
Responsibilities:
-Monthly supervision/support groups with management
-Bi-weekly team meetings
-Maintain confidentiality with participants
Clear and consistent communication with the team (coworkers), family, caseworker, and management
- Travel to and from client placements, department of social services headquarters, and R. Willie Group office
- 1 on 1 interaction with clients of varying ages and abilities
- Provide a model for a healthy, trusting relationship through clear communication and setting appropriate boundaries
- Acknowledge clients' strengths, talents, and gifts and encourage them to find ways to use them
- Be an active listener and offer support and encouragement when appropriate
- Encourage activities outside of the home and help expose clients to new opportunities and experiences
- Record and document interactions and progress made with clients upon completion of every shift
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- 3 years of experience working with at-risk youth and families
- Strong communication and active listening skills are essential
- Understanding of human development and behavior
- Knowledge of community resources and support services
-Valid driver's license and insurance
- Car access
-Completed background checks and training
