Position Overview:
As a Controller, you will manage financial operations and reporting for multiple residential home builder clients. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial records, compliance with regulations, and providing actionable insights to support the strategic goals of our clients. Your role will bridge tactical financial management with strategic advisory, working closely with our leadership and client stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Provide variance analysis and detailed reporting tailored to the needs of residential home builders.
- Develop dashboards and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track business performance.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist clients in creating annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
- Monitor actual performance against budgets and provide actionable recommendations.
- Accounting Operations:
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and job costing.
- Maintain compliance with relevant accounting standards and tax regulations.
- Cash Flow Management:
- Monitor cash flow projections and provide guidance to improve liquidity.
- Advise on financing options, lines of credit, and working capital strategies.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and implement best practices.
- Support the adoption of software tools and technologies to enhance efficiency.
- Collaboration and Support:
- Partner with leadership to deliver strategic financial insights to clients.
- Provide financial mentorship and support to clients’ internal teams.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
- Experience:
- Experience working with residential home builders or construction clients is highly desirable.
- Public accounting
- FAST System for Homebuilders
- Sage Intacct
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or BuilderTrend).
- Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with financial modeling and reporting tools.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Strong ability to manage multiple clients and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
