Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Windows System Engineer to join our team in Lafayette, IN. The ideal candidate will have 5 years of experience in managing and supporting Windows-based systems and VMware environments. This position involves working in a dynamic and collaborative environment, supporting a range of systems and services, and ensuring the reliability, stability, and performance of our infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Windows Server Management: Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server operating systems (2012, 2016, 2019, and newer versions).
- VMware Administration: Manage VMware infrastructure including installation, configuration, and optimization of virtual machines, ESXi hosts, and vCenter servers.
- System Monitoring & Optimization: Continuously monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize server resources.
- Active Directory (AD): Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and other directory services.
- Backup & Recovery: Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery processes, ensuring system integrity and availability.
- Patch Management: Regularly apply security patches and updates to Windows and VMware environments to ensure security compliance.
- Scripting & Automation: Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate routine tasks and improve system efficiency.
- Collaboration & Support: Work closely with cross-functional teams to provide support and resolve complex system issues. Provide on-call support when needed.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all system configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures.
Required Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in Windows Server administration and VMware virtualization technologies.
- Strong proficiency with Windows Server 2012/2016/2019, and related technologies.
- Experience managing VMware ESXi, vSphere, and vCenter.
- Proficient in Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
- Experience with system monitoring tools and proactive issue resolution.
- Strong knowledge of backup and recovery tools and methodologies.
- Scripting experience, particularly with PowerShell or similar scripting languages.
- Knowledge of security protocols and system hardening techniques.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications:
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or similar certifications.
- Familiarity with cloud technologies (Azure, AWS) is a plus.
- Experience with network infrastructure (routing, switching, VPNs) is a plus.
