Job Summary:
The Infusion Coordinator – Rheumatology is responsible for coordinating and managing infusion services for patients receiving biologic and intravenous therapies in a rheumatology clinic. This role ensures seamless patient care, from scheduling to administration and follow-up, while maintaining compliance with clinical protocols and insurance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:Patient Coordination & Care:
- Schedule and coordinate infusion appointments, ensuring efficient patient flow.
- Educate patients on infusion procedures, medications, potential side effects, and aftercare.
- Obtain prior authorizations for infusion medications and treatments.
- Monitor patients during infusions for adverse reactions and communicate concerns to healthcare providers.
Clinical Support:
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and infusion safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to optimize patient care.
Administrative & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health records (EHR).
- Communicate with insurance providers to ensure coverage and reimbursement of treatments.
- Track and manage inventory of infusion medications and supplies.
- Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or relevant healthcare background preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in infusion therapy, rheumatology, or a related field is highly desirable.
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent patient communication and education skills.
- Proficiency in EHR systems and insurance authorization processes.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
