Position Summary:
Responsible for preparing all grilled, broiled, fried, and sautéed items in the kitchen. This includes preparation and portioning of food items prior to cooking, such as tempura, sauces, and grilled items. The role also involves plating and garnishing cooked items, maintaining a clean kitchen workstation, and adhering to restaurant service and cooking procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare or direct preparations of all recipes according to portions sizes, quality standards, department rules, policies, and procedures outlined in the Kitchen Guide and Employee Handbook.
- Prepare a wide variety of cold and hot food items using standardized recipes.
- Satisfy special requests from guests.
- Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours, ensuring excellence, quality, temperature, and appearance of food is preserved.
- Select and utilize knives, hand tools, utensils, and equipment to portion, cut, slice, broil, roast, carve, skewer, garnish, maintain holding temperature, grill, or otherwise produce food on the kitchen line.
- Comply with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards, observing proper food preparation and handling techniques outlined in the Kitchen Guide and Employee Handbook.
- Maintain inventory levels and inform the Head Kitchen Chef accordingly.
- Report necessary equipment repair and maintenance to the Manager.
- Notify the Head Kitchen Chef of any unsanitary equipment, storage/work areas, or products.
- Communicate effectively with the Lead Line Cook to facilitate customer orders efficiently and within required ticket times.
- Familiarize yourself with federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations outlined by the General Manager and the Employee Handbook.
- Keep the work area neat, organized, and clean at all times, cleaning and maintaining equipment used in food preparation.
Requirements:
- Prior experience in food preparation is essential.
- Experience in the restaurant industry is highly desirable.
- Bilingual skills are an advantage.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- The minimum age requirement is 18 years old.
