Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to design, develop, maintain, and support mainframe systems and applications critical to our business operations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in COBOL, CICS, Z/OS, Control-M, IBM DB2, and other mainframe technologies, with a focus on delivering reliable, scalable, and efficient solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, code, test, debug, and document mainframe programs to meet business and technical requirements.
- Develop and maintain JCL scripts, batch processes, and online transactions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions.
- Perform unit testing, integration testing, and system testing to ensure application stability and quality.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to mainframe applications and systems.
- Utilize Control-M to schedule and monitor batch job workflows.
- Optimize application performance through tuning and resource utilization best practices.
- Manage databases using IBM DB2, ensuring data integrity and high availability.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including system specifications and user guides.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 12 years of experience in mainframe application development and support.
- Strong proficiency in COBOL, CICS, Z/OS, Control-M, and IBM DB2.
- Experience with VSAM, IMS DB/DC, and other mainframe technologies.
- Proficiency in debugging tools such as Abend-AID, File-AID, and Xpeditor.
- Solid understanding of JCL, job scheduling, and batch processing.
- Familiarity with mainframe utilities like SORT, IDCAMS, and REXX scripting.
- Experience in performance tuning and optimizing mainframe applications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with mainframe modernization or migration projects.
- Knowledge of integrating mainframe systems with distributed environments.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and tools.
- Experience with version control systems such as Endevor, Changeman, or GIT.
- Exposure to mainframe DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
