Raccoon Valley Bank is seeking a full-time Credit Analyst for its Grimes, Iowa location. The Credit Analyst assists the Commercial and Agricultural Lenders in the administration of their portfolios by completing financial statement spreading, analysis, and preparing loan presentations for submission for approval. The Credit Analyst understands the Bank’s Loan Policy and risk rating systems in order to assist Lenders with policy exception identification and accuracy of relationship risk rating.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1) Excellent internal and external customer service and communication skills required (both written and oral); ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.

2) Ability to collect data and calculate and interpret mathematical functions necessary for the responsibilities of this position and draw valid conclusions.

3) Assess the creditworthiness of loan applicants, judging their suitability as borrowers as well as the precise terms (interest rate, repayment schedule, etc.) on which credit may be granted to them.

4) Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.

5) Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, proficient computer skills. General knowledge of Excel, Word and Web Equity/Lending Cloud experience preferred but not required.

6) Comply with regulatory rules and regulations, evidenced through successful completion of training and demonstrated ability. Topics include but are not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, Ethics, Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC), etc.

7) Always reflect a positive image for the Bank by exuding professional demeanor and contributing to community involvement.

8) Keep abreast of current industry trends, regulatory issues, and overall economic environment. Cross-markets bank’s products and services as appropriate.

9) Review and prepare written analysis, spreadsheets, reports, summaries, and opinions. Prepare or assist in the preparation of loan memos for the appropriate approval level.

10) Obtain loan request information from commercial lender or borrower to analyze credit information, financial statements and other related information pertaining to the loan.

11) Order residential and commercial appraisals and conduct an appraisal review once the appraisal is received back from the Appraiser.

12) Assist with other credit activities including, but not limited to, property inspections, construction advances, tickler items and exam preparation.

13) Perform other duties as assigned by management based on abilities and performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in finance, accounting, or business-related field required. Two to three years’ experience of banking experience or related experience and/or training preferred.

Computer and data processing literacy required, including adept experience with Microsoft Office programs and Fiserv software. Experience with Moody’s Analytics Lending Cloud is helpful, but not required. Bank regulation and compliance is required. Mathematical, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills required. Must be highly motivated with good communication skills, able to work independently, and capable of executing tactical plans in line with strategic objectives.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and implement regulations and laws, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, policy, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply mathematical operations including but not limited to variance analysis, factor analysis, correlation techniques, sampling theory and sensitivity analysis.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and/or problems and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid driver’s license required for travel to Bank offices, training sessions, customer meetings, Bank meetings, and community meetings, etc. Ability to speak a foreign language helpful but not required.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.

Must be willing to office out of the Grimes, IA Branch Office location and travel as necessary. Must be willing to work more than 40 hours per week and on some weekends as required.
