What are the responsibilities and job description for the OSP Drop Tech Lead position at Race?
Job Title: Drop Technician Lead
Reports to: Director of Field Operations
Location: Tehachapi, CA
Employment type: Full-time
FLSA: Non-exempt
What You’ll do:
- Lead of multiple Drop crews
- Lead Aerial and below-ground fiber installation
- Conduct new substructure site surveys and site walks
- Determine existing and new locations for fiber drops
- Install and Replace Aerial and Underground Fiber Drop Cable
- Install and Repair Underground Conduit
- Safely use hand tools and equipment such as wrenches, drills, ladders, lanyards, saws, lashers, climbing hooks, and more
- Safely operate mechanized equipment such as bucket trucks, excavators, and trencher
- Ability to work in all weather conditions, at heights and in confined spaces
- Termination of fiber drop cable
- Take pictures of job sites, pole conditions and other relevant structures or landmarks
What You’ll Bring:
- Management experience in the telecommunications industry preferred
- Associate or bachelor's degree preferred
- AutoCAD/Google Maps/KMZ Experience
- Ability to climb poles up to 40 feet, work in a bucket truck, and work with 32’ plus ladder
- Able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs as needed with or without assistance
- A valid, unrestricted driver’s license (Commercial driver’s license preferred but not required)
- Exceptional organizational and planning skills, with meticulous attention to detail, proactive, collaborative and flexible mindset is essential
- High school diploma or GED required
- Understanding of Utility Markings
