What are the responsibilities and job description for the Y&F Case Manager-Child Abuse and Neglect Investigator position at Racine, County of (WI)?
To conduct protective services investigations regarding alleged neglect or abuse, and provide information and referral, emergency, crisis, and juvenile court intake services for Human Services Department's Case Management Division.
- Conduct investigations relative to allegations of neglect, abuse of children on behalf of Human Services Department.
- Petition appropriate court for remedy of situation when necessary, prepare appropriate court reports.
- Develop preliminary service plans to remedy or prevent recurrence of need for protection.
- Coordinate with police, medical personnel, schools, and others in provision of services.
- Respond to emergencies on behalf of Human Services Department.
- Act as juvenile court intake worker and detain children who require "holding in custody" under Chapter 48.
- Testify in juvenile and adult court matters.
- Participate in staff training/community education activities.
- Act as resource person to other Human Services Department staff.
- Any other duties as assigned by supervisory staff.
Supervision Received
Receives supervision from Supervisor, Child Protective Investigative Unit.
- Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field (Child development, criminal justice, educational psychology, vocational rehabilitation, guidance and counseling, psychology, social welfare, social work and sociology).
- Valid Wisconsin driver's license for required travel. Personal automobile, if used for work-related travel, must be covered by an automobile insurance policy.
- Prompt and regular attendance.
- *Or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Experience in child protective services preferred.
- Ability to respond to crisis and to make appropriate judgments as to resolutions.
- Ability to deliver concise oral and written reports.
- Ability to work well with other agencies.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Knowledge of Chapters 48, 55, 880 and 51 desirable.
