Basic Function
To assist and stabilize adults with mental illness and/or substance abuse disorders who are experiencing mental health issues and/or substance use issues. To ensure program compliance with all relevant County, State, and Federal requirements. The Provider will serve as the Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner (APNP) for Behavioral Health Services of Racine County on a part-time, two days per week basis, and meet the qualifications specified under Wisconsin Statute HFS 75 and be licensed under in the State of Wisconsin as an Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner.
Essential Duties
· Perform duties in accordance with standard APNP best practice standards.
· Perform patient assessments in accordance with clinic policies and procedures.
· Maintain timely flow of patients, to ensure adherence to the appointment scheduling.
· Provide follow-up with patients as needed.
· Document patient care and related information, review charts and other duties as assigned.
· Provide clinical consultation if needed for emergency mental health workers.
· Ensure all work is compliant with DHS 75 clinical supervision requirements.
· Ensure the Clinical Director is informed of current practice and the expectations of the Clinical Director are implemented.
· Work effectively with multidisciplinary teams within the BHS mental health delivery system.
· Document all activities to ensure compliance with County, State, and Federal requirements.
· Provide backup coverage for the duties of staff.
Supervision Exercised
None.
Supervision Received
Receives supervision from the Clinical Director and Medical Director of Behavioral Health Services and in accordance with DHS 75.
Qualifications
· Licensed by the State of Wisconsin as an Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner (APNP)
· Two years experience with mental health populations and a specialty license as a psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
· Prompt and regular attendance.
*Or any equivalent combination, training and experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities.

· Knowledge of community resources.
· Knowledge of State Statutes 54, 51, 55 and 48.
· Personal aptitude and ability to provide emergency mental health services.
· Ability to provide emergency mental health services.
· Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
· Ability to work effectively with a diverse client population.
· Ability to respond to crisis and to make appropriate judgments
· Ability to lift 20 lbs
