What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paddock Blacksmith position at RACING OFFICIALS ACCREDITATION PROGRAM?
The Maryland Jockey Club (TMJC) is currently seeking qualified candidates for the following positions in the Racing Department at Laurel Park Racecourse in Laurel Maryland:
Farrier – Blacksmith for our live racing operations. This position is part-time, three (3) days per week, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The racing hours Blacksmith is required to be at the paddock from 11:30am until approximately 5pm. Pay is weekly - $200 daily
This position is vital to the well-being and performance of our equine athletes. We are looking for a skilled blacksmith who is knowledgeable of serving thoroughbred racehorses and the specialized care they need to compete safely in racing. This role requires a deep understanding of equine anatomy, biomechanics, and proper shoeing techniques
