What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary Licensing Assistant position at RACING OFFICIALS ACCREDITATION PROGRAM?
Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission is seeking to fill a temporary position in the Licensing Office at Prairie Meadows during the live racing season. This position is temporary and will work approximately five hours a day on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from late April/early May through September. Additional hours may be needed as necessary. Hours will include weekends and evenings until 6:30 pm during the live racing season. No benefits are associated with this position. Hourly rate will be $20 to $25 per hour based upon qualifications.
Duties may include, but are not be limited to:
- Review all paperwork to ensure that all necessary documents are completed properly, fingerprint applicants, and issue license badges. Re-process any rejected background documents or fingerprints.
- Refer any licensing decision questions to a Gaming Representative or Racing Steward.
- Collect appropriate fee or direct bill to the facility.
- Check the racing program to verify all owners, trainers and jockeys have been licensed and forward a list of unlicensed individuals to the Stewards and Racing Office.
- Review racing applicant’s history on Racing Commissioners International database and refer to the stewards any concerns found in the applicant’s record.
- Enter all probations, denials and suspensions in the licensing database.
- Respond to inquiries.
- Address problems/concerns promptly.
- Balance all monies received from license fees and rulings with the daily and weekly deposits. Make out deposit form and deposit funds weekly at the bank. Prepare and distribute direct billing statement for Licensee.
- Maintain a daily log on all infractions, make sure all fines are paid within the time limit, if not, refer to the Gaming Representatives or Stewards. Enter ruling information and distribute.
- Comply with retention schedule and maintain supply inventory.
- File all occupational license applications.
- Twice yearly review of all current licenses to assure employees are properly licensed.
Training will be provided. General computer skills and ability are required.
The successful candidate(s) will be required to complete and pass a background check through the Division of Criminal Investigation and will not have any immediate family members who are working or licensed in any racetrack or casino within the State of Iowa.
