Responsibilities
As a Teacher Aide, your duties will include:
- Supporting individual children and the overall classroom needs under the guidance of the classroom teacher.
- Reviewing IEPs and collaborating with the teacher to support children’s instructional and social-emotional development.
- Assisting children with daily tasks such as toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, and positioning.
- Observing therapy sessions and ensuring skill development continues within the classroom setting.
- Maintaining accurate records and completing program-related documentation.
- Communicating effectively with the team and participating in relevant meetings.
- Providing ideas and showing initiative to enhance the educational environment.
- Adhering to professional standards of behavior and dress while contributing to a positive work culture.
- Attending required training and upholding program regulations.
- Accept feedback, show initiative, and contribute to the development of the educational setting.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
- Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED, fingerprint clearance, and New York State Central Registry clearance.
- Experience: Must be of 18 years of age witch aide experience preferred.
- Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with teamwork and organizational abilities.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, engage in floor-level activities, and respond quickly to children’s needs.
