- Install, configure, and maintain AS400 hardware and software components.
- Such as defining HBA’s, configuring them to a VMAX San with storage groups and srdf to the disaster recovery site.
- Being able to do OS Upgrades, Subsystems like Java, Tomcat, etc. upgrades and customizations
- Ensure system resources are appropriately allocated to meet business requirements.
- Set up user accounts and define access permissions.
- Monitor system performance and take proactive measures to optimize performance.
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks, system errors, and performance issues.
- Implement system upgrades and patches as needed.
- Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures.
- Regularly back up critical data and ensure data integrity.
- Test and execute disaster recovery plans when necessary.
- Implement security policies and access controls to protect AS400 systems.
- Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Address security breaches and enforce compliance with security protocols.
- Provide technical support to end-users and resolve system-related issues.
- Offer training and guidance to users on AS400 system usage.
- Create and maintain documentation for system configurations and procedures.

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Proven experience as an AS400 System Administrator or in a similar role.
- Proficiency in AS400/IBM iSeries administration.
- Strong AS400 hardware and software knowledge, including OS/400 (IBM i).
- Experience with system performance tuning and optimization.
- Familiarity with security best practices and access control.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
- Relevant certifications such as IBM Certified System Administrator for IBM i.
- Experience with high availability and disaster recovery solutions for AS400.
- Knowledge of programming languages like RPG/PLEX (Report Program Generator).
- Familiarity with AS400-related software and tools.
