Position Overview:
Rackner is seeking a Cloud Architect to gather requirements and design Public, Private, and Hybrid Cloud-based system deployments and system transitions. The Cloud Solution Architect will architect and plan migrations to commercial cloud service providers such as AWS, Microsoft Azure and Office 365, GCP, or similar cloud platforms. Will act as a technical lead on a team of architects, leading the design and recommendation for the best solution.
Responsibilities:
- Work with end users and application experts to elicit requirements for designing and deploying scalable, highly available, and fault tolerant systems in cloud based systems
- Lift and shift planning for data migration to and from cloud-based systems
- Ingress and egress planning for data migration to and from cloud-based systems
- Select appropriate cloud services based on data, database, or security requirements
- Manage the integration with on-premises enterprise networks and systems
- Identify appropriate use of cloud architectural best practices
- Estimate cloud costs and identify cost control measures and solutions
- Provide tasking and oversight to other technical team members performing design and architecture
- Provide technical clarity and direction to Cloud Iaas, PaaS, and SaaS Consultants
- Review final work products for accuracy and adherence to design concepts
Qualifications:
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Mathematics (e.g. Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or Information Systems)
- Master’s degree and 10 years’ experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 14 years of professional experience with: research, design and development of computer and network software or specialized utility which may include database maintenance within an application area
- Experience applying programming concepts in a professional or academic setting
- Experience with applying modern software development methodologies (e.g. agile, DevOps/DevSecOps)
