Superintendents are typically out in the field managing projects, but does require time in the office for meetings.

Initial Goals and Objectives:


The Production Superintendent is responsible for the effective installation of projects in adherence with the specifications outlined.  The position is responsible for leading crews to maximize productivity, efficiency, and quality of project installations.

 

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Ensure that all projects are executed as outlined in Project Package, utilizing safe work practices and in compliance with external requirements (e.g. OSHA, governmental standards, manufacturer specifications), and in an efficient and productive manner.
  • Provide timely project status information including time, work completed, issues, change requests, requests for information, material used and remaining, and resources required to complete projects to the Operations Manager and Project Management personnel.
  • Maintain good relationships with clients.
  • Mentor staff in the installation of quality roofing systems and the utilization of safe work practices.
  • Ensure proper use of vehicles and equipment.
  • Develop successful internal relationships to foster team cooperation in meeting field goals.
  • Prepare material purchase orders for items needed during the course of the project.
  • Prepare equipment load list requests.
  • Identify and plan effective set up and implementation process to achieve efficient, safe, and high quality results in addition to the protection of customer assets (e.g. set up location, loading process, interior protection, landscape protection).
  • Document field conditions including preexisting issues and conditions encountered during project implementation in addition to taking cores to confirm existing roof system.
  • Document preconstruction meeting discussions.
  • Ensure accurate measurements are provided for sheet metal fabrication and purchase.
  • Ensure that incident reports for accidents, issues, and unusual events are prepared.
  • Resolve problems and document recommendations, outcome, and approvals.
  • Prepare site reports for all site visits including safety documentation and production status.
  • Perform safety inspections and prepare safety reports for all jobs.
  • Ensure that safety topics are presented on an ongoing basis.
  • Other activities as appropriate.

Position Requirements:

  • Proven ability to mentor and lead a commercial roofing field team.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted industry roofing practices.
  • Detailed knowledge of roofing safety requirements as outlined in OSHA regulations.
  • Knowledge of manufacturer system requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, details, and specifications.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Ability to plan ahead to avoid potential problems.
  • Ability to carry and climb ladders, confidence on roof top, ability to take roof samples (cores), and to thoroughly document roof conditions, measurements, etc.

Leadership and Management:

  • Manage and direct others in a positive manner, building skills, confidence and effectiveness of foremen and technicians.
  • Communicate in a positive and clear manner.
  • Focus on consistency.
  • Take responsibility to provide training and mentoring necessary to elevate foremen and technicians to their highest potential.
  • Demand excellence, success, and honestly.
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic.
