What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraprofessional position at Radford City School District?
POSITION TITLE: Paraprofessional - for the remainder of the 24/25 school year.
QUALIFICATIONS: High School Degree
REPORTS TO: Classroom Teacher/Principal and/or other Supervisor
Job Responsibilities:
- Assists in executing the instructional program based on the Virginia Standards of Learning and individual education plans as directed by the Administrators and Special Education
- Monitors the safety and well-being of students as directed by the Administrators and Special Education
- Prepares instructional materials as is appropriate for the program and individual students as directed by the Administrators and Special Education
- Works with individual students, small groups, and large groups as appropriate for the program and as directed by the Administrators or Special Education
- Assists in documenting progress of each student to ensure growth as instructed by the Administrators or Special Education Teachers.
- Prepares data when directed to do so, this may include attendance, grading, behavior, literacy, etc.
- Assists with safety drills including, but not limited to fire drills, tornado drills, bus evacuation drills, shelter in place or lock down
- Assists with duty assignments as directed which may include hall duty, bus duty, lunch duty.
- Assists with student mobility, which may involve lifting or guiding students, as well as managing classroom materials and equipment.
- Attends meetings and professional development as directed by the school administrators.
- Models and encourages professional behavior and positive self-concept.
- Maintains strict confidentiality regarding student records and student
- Follows all rules, regulations and policies of the school, school division and state and federal laws including rules, regulations, policies and laws regarding Special Education.
- Other duties as assigned by Administrators and Special Education
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with students/children. An associates or Bachelors degree.
