Job Description:
The Communication Coordinator for Financial Aid is responsible for managing and executing communication strategies aimed at prospective and current students, families, and other stakeholders regarding financial aid processes, resources, and deadlines. This position requires a highly organized and detail-oriented individual who will develop, implement, and maintain communication campaigns that promote awareness and understanding of financial aid opportunities, policies, and procedures. The coordinator will work closely with the financial aid office to ensure timely, clear, and effective communication across various channels, including email, social media, print materials, and digital platforms.

- Manage content on the financial aid website, ensuring all information is up-to-date, relevant, and accessible.
- Provide timely responses to inquiries from students, parents, and other stakeholders regarding financial aid topics, either directly or through appropriate channels.
- Collaborate with the financial aid team to identify key messages and ensure that communication aligns with the department’s objectives.
- Maintain a calendar of important dates and deadlines related to financial aid and ensure the timely dissemination of reminders.
- Stay current with trends in financial aid, higher education, and communication technologies to ensure that the office’s communications are effective and innovative.
- Proven experience in communications, marketing, or a similar field, preferably within a higher education or financial aid environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and families.
- Customer service experience, preferably in an office setting.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, internet applications, and social media platforms.
- Experience working within a financial aid office or a similar administrative environment in higher education.
- Familiarity with financial aid processes, terminology, and systems (e.g., FAFSA, scholarships, student loans).
- Experience in managing communication platforms such as email marketing software, social media accounts, and web content management systems.
- Knowledge of best practices for digital communication, including social media engagement and web content optimization.
- Proficiency with design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) for creating marketing materials.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with an ability to convey complex information in a clear, concise manner.
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive communication practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Education, or a related field or experience that equates to a bachelor’s degree.
