Job Description:
- The Field Service Machinist I is responsible for setting up and operating CNC, manual, and portable field machines to repair steam and gas turbine components.
- This role requires the ability to independently read and interpret technical documents such as blueprints, planning sheets, and sketches to determine tooling needs, setup procedures, control settings, and machining sequences.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC, manual, and portable field machine tools, including lathes, milling, boring, and grinding equipment.
- Calculate and adjust machine settings for spindle positioning, cutting depth, speed, feed, and coolant flow.
- Operate machines while monitoring displays and operations to identify malfunctions.
- Use precision measuring tools to inspect parts and verify conformance to technical specifications.
- Perform dimensional inspections on products.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Clean machines, tooling, and parts and perform assigned preventative maintenance tasks.
- Travel extensively (approximately 70%) for overnight assignments by land or air.
- Obtain and maintain necessary clearances for access to nuclear facilities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, with at least three (3) years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills: Ability to comprehend and follow instructions, write clear correspondence, and communicate effectively in one-on-one and small group settings.
Mathematical Skills: Proficiency in calculations relevant to machining tasks.
Reasoning Ability: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions based on technical requirements.
Computer Skills: Proficiency with personal computer applications, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and technical drawings.
