The Physical Scientist will support the Naval Research Laboratory’s (NRL) Marine Meteorology Division (MMD) in performing research and design of satellite systems. Focus areas include propulsion systems, mathematical modeling, simulations, and data analysis. The duty location is at NRL in Monterey, California. Tasking takes place on both classified and unclassified levels (up to SIPRNet).
Salary Range: $90,000-$100,000

Job Duties
- Support NRL-MMD research and development efforts.
- Enhance and maintain the codebase for DMSP satellites for accessibility.
- Apply data science principles to math models and numerical simulations.
- Contribute to satellite design and maintenance.
- Prepare documents, spreadsheets, and graphics for briefings and demonstrations.
- Follow NRL security policies and best-practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics or related physical science
- Active DoD Secret clearance (Tier III investigation) Interim Secret also accepted.
- Strong technical writing and oral communication skills
