SUMMARY: The Screen Printer Apprentice will learn and perform manual screen printing work in conjunction with the production/assembly department and graphics department to perform duties essential for customer order completion, timeliness and accuracy. This role is geared to successfully train individuals to become full fledge Screen Printers. See below for full details.
· Phase One – Pocket Press Machine - General training time for this phase is 30 days
o Each candidate will start out on the Pocket Press. This is done to familiarize each candidate with the printing process and machinery.
o Expectations for this phase:
§ Candidate will learn to read the traveler and understand what the customer has ordered and what artwork is to be printed
§ Candidate will learn to identify the screen and set it up on the machine, so it is ready for print
§ Candidate will learn to set up the machine to print single and multicolor jobs
§ Candidate will learn to place the garment on the machine for printing
§ Candidate will learn to move the garment to the next phase of the job based on the traveler.
· Phase Two – Manual Print – General training time for this phase is 30 days
o Each Candidate will move to the manual press once they have successfully completed their training on the pocket press and have proven they can set up and print multicolored jobs that meet our quality standards with no guidance.
o Expectations for this phase:
§ Candidate will learn the machine and the differences between the manual machine and the automatic machine
§ Candidate will learn to set up both single and multi-colored jobs as well as jobs with multiple locations being printed
§ Candidate will learn to print each type of garment
§ Candidate will learn to move the garment to the next phase of the job based on the traveler
· Phase Three – Auto Press – General training time for this phase is 30 days
o Each candidate will move to this phase once they have demonstrated they can successfully print on both the Pocket Press and the Manual machines.
o Expectations for this phase:
§ Candidate will learn how to feed the machine that has been set up by another printer.
This is done to allow each candidate to get familiar with the moving pieces of this machine and to understand the safety
requirements. This also allows the candidate to understand the speed required to keep up with the machine
§ Candidate will learn to set up the screens and line them up for single color and multicolored jobs.
§ Candidate will be able to print each type of garment and multicolored jobs upon completion of training.
· Expectations upon Completion
o Once the training is complete the candidate will be able to read a traveler, set up and print single and multi-colored jobs on the Pocket Press, Manual and Automatic machines. The ultimate goal is for the candidate to also learn the pad print machines and become a master printer.
· Hourly rates and bonuses by phase
o $18.00 during training, $20.00 after completion of Phases One, Two and Three (approximately 90 days)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE & OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1 year previous manual printing experience is required.
Ability to work in a team environment
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to regularly lift up to 40 lbs.
Ability to work independently under his/her own initiative
Possesses simple art and design skills
General problem solving/analysis capabilities
Must have excellent verifiable attendance record.
