What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physician Assistants position at Radiansys Inc.?
College health service staff physician assistant is responsible to provide primary health care for the students of the college under the supervision of a licensed physician, to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and work in collaboration with the Medical Director, or in the Director's absence, a staff physician or refer to local Urgent Care or hospital emergency room as needed.
Specific duties include
• Provide primary medical care for the students of College. This entails eliciting the history of the present illness/complaint, including past medical, developmental, psycho-social history as warranted and performing a physical examination to further inform the diagnosis.
• Record the relevant information in the patient chart.
• Order and perform in-house diagnostic tests and those done at a commercial lab.
• Order and facilitate other diagnostic tests and consultations with specialists as needed.
• Inform patients of results and counsel them as to interpretation, needed treatment and follow-up.
• Based on diagnosis, prescribe medication as appropriate, counsel and educate patient about their medical problems and medication.
• Perform in-house procedures, e.g., nebulizer treatments, wound care/dressings, venipuncture, ppds and injectables among other procedures provided at Health Services.
• Assist in coordinating functions of the department.
• Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings and in-service webinars when offered.
• Participate in continuing education programs relevant to college health.
• Implement policies and decisions as directed by the Medical and/or Administrative Directors and follow established protocols.
• Assist in development of sources of medical information for staff and patients.
• Participate in college community activities (e.g., student/staff outreach programs and professional development, college committee work) as time allows.
Additional specifications, qualifications, experience or skill levels
• Master’s Degree
• NYS PA licensure
• Current certification by NCCPA or equivalent certifying body
• CPR/AED certification
• 2 years post-licensure experience in primary care ambulatory setting serving adolescents/young adults preferred
• Knowledge and experience with electronic medical record systems, preferably Medicat
