Qualifications
- Master's degree in nursing required
- Graduate of an accredited graduate program in psychiatric mental-health nursing
- ANCC Board certification
- Valid Massachusetts or Rhode Island Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing
- 2-3 years of experience as a PMHNP and can practice independently
- DEA license
- Comfortable prescribing for a spectrum of mental health disorders
- A qualified candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal communication, conflict resolution and organizational skills
- A strong passion for helping those who suffer with a mental illness and are able to provide respectful, empowering and compassionate care
- Must be willing to uphold the mission of the practice as well as Nursing code of ethics.
Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations for the child and adolescent population
- Prescribe medication in an effort to reduce mental health symptoms and make adjustments, as needed
- Develop treatment plans based on assessments
- Maintain working relationship with patient and/or family while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
- Facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals and medical facilities
- Perform prior authorizations for prescribed medications if necessary
- Maintain effective working relationships with collaborative leadership teams and interdisciplinary health care teams and appropriate community providers
- Schedule your own patient follow-up appointments
- Document in the electronic medical record in a timely manner
- Submit claims through the billing platform embedded in the electronic medical record.
