Job Description
GENERAL EXPERIENCE EXPECTATIONS:
- Proven experience in developing and maintaining Data Warehouse (DW) architectures;
- Proficient in building Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) and Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages for Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes within the Microsoft SQL DW environment;
- Experience working with various database management systems, focusing on database design, testing, implementation, maintenance, and administration across multiple platforms; and
- Proficient in International Business Machines (IBM) Database 2 (DB2) management system, version 11.
The Department is seeking a full-time, on-site Database Administrator

The Department requires the following experience, skills, and knowledge for this position:
- A minimum of six (6) years of experience with IBM's DB2 database, including skills in creating, maintaining, optimizing, and modifying DB2 databases;
- Proficiency in using Computer-Aided (CA) database tools;
- At least three (3) years of experience working in an Azure environment and utilizing cloud-native databases; and
- A minimum of five (5) years of prior experience with the Department.
Preferred Qualifications
The Department prefers the Candidates to have the following experience, skills, and/or knowledge for this position:
- Supervise a team of DB2 Database Administrators;
- Knowledge of Azure SQL databases;
- Knowledge of Data Warehouse techniques and processes;
- Knowledgeable creating and updating Entity-Relationship Diagrams (ERD) diagrams;
- Knowledgeable in DB2 upgrade processes; and
- Five (5) or more years of experience with SQL from version 2012 and higher.
The Database Administrator will serve as the principal line of communication for the project team. The duties and responsibilities of this position are as follows:
- Establish, maintain, and apply quality assurance techniques and processes to optimize Common Business-Oriented Language (COBOL) application development efforts;
- Analyze and monitor existing mainframe environments for potential improvements and technical guidance;
- Conduct performance tuning of the mainframe database environments at the system level, specifically for DB2 and IBM Z Operating System (IBM z/OS);
- Participate in annual disaster recovery of the mainframe environment;
- Establish and maintain the quality, accuracy, reliability, validity, precision, and integrity of data resources and the information derived from data resources;
- Establish format standards for consistent documentation of data resources to ensure a reliable source of information;
- Develop metadata regarding entities and data elements representing those entities, including their relationships, origins, meanings, uses, and representation, utilizing online and batch performance tools and data modeling techniques;
- Develop and maintain an enterprise data model of the Offender Based Information System (OBIS) DB2 databases;
- Assist in analyzing proposed data elements for addition to database structures, assessing their impact on size and performance;
- Analyze database operational performance to ensure response time minimums are met, identifying problems early to protect database integrity while maintaining an enterprise data model; and
- Collaborate closely with application programming staff on all aspects of data element access required by computer programs, ensuring new elements adhere to desired standards and maintain database integrity.
