Job Responsibilities
As a Domestic Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for:
- Managing domestic freight forwarding, including routing, tracking, and tracing shipments using transportation software and online tools.
- Pricing and quoting for various domestic transport modes: air, ground, LTL, and FTL.
- Handling White Glove Service shipments with precision, following standard operating procedures.
- Playing a key role in supporting the movement of freight for diverse customers across the U.S.
- Identifying service failures and effectively communicating these issues to management or customer service teams.
- Coordinating shipment follow-up, including obtaining necessary data (e.g., weight, dimensions) from agents.
- Engaging with carriers/partners to secure competitive rates or spot quotes.
- Auditing vendor charges for accuracy and legitimacy.
As a Domestic Operations Specialist, you will need:
- Highschool diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor/Associate degree in Logistics or related field is a plus
- 1-3 of freight forwarding experience.
- Self-motivated, able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- A strong problem solver, capable of staying composed under pressure.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organization skills.
- Capable of following standard operating procedures and contributing ideas for process improvement.
- Proficient in Outlook, Excel, Word, and transportation tracking software.
- Full time schedule of minimum 8 hours per day with flexibility to complete all required job duties and responsibilities.
- Usually moderate noise level.
- Climate controlled office environment.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to read and interpret documents, spreadsheets, emails and instructions.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak clearly and effectively to both internal and external contacts.
