Key Responsibilities
As the Senior Revenue Accountant, you are responsible for:
- Review and ensure the accuracy of revenue postings.
- Prepare, reconcile, and post complex revenue-related journal entries (e.g. accruals, reclasses, and corrections).
- Analyze revenues, cost of sales, and margins by location.
- Analyze and investigate variances and historical trends (e.g. transit times, average costs, etc.).
- Apply U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies in revenue recognition and journal entry processing.
- Monitor and clear suspense accounts.
- Assist in monthly and quarterly financial statement variance reporting.
- Provide support for quarterly reviews, annual audits, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance, as required.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners and serve as subject matter expert for revenue matters.
- Ensure the timely and proper execution of internal controls over financial reporting assigned to the role, including verifying evidence of completeness and accuracy of key reports, and adhering to control performance guidelines as reviewed with external auditors.
- Recommend and implement improvements in workflow and revenue processes.
- Support internal control initiatives and policy development.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of new controls and assist in remediation activities in the event of control deficiencies.
- Provide mentorship and oversight to junior accounting staff.
- Ad hoc reporting and special projects assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required).
- CPA or CPA candidacy strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a corporate or public accounting setting.
- Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP, particularly ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g. formulas, pivot tables, graphs) and Office Suite.
- Experience with SAP is preferred.
- Familiarity with data tools such as Power BI a plus
- Ability to analyze and interpret data to provide comprehensive and insightful analysis.
- Familiarity with SOX compliance and internal control processes.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to multi-task.
- Full time schedule of minimum 8 hours per day with flexibility to complete all required job duties and responsibilities
