Radiant is an El-Segundo, CA-based clean energy startup building a nuclear microreactor. A climate-friendly alternative to diesel generators, Radiant's Kaleidos 1MW microreactor will be the world's first portable, zero-emissions power source that works anywhere. We plan to test our development reactor by 2026 and if successful, it will be the first new commercial reactor design to achieve a fueled test in over 50 years. Radiant's goal is to bring one of the world's first factory-constructed microreactors to market. Our microreactor can bring power to remote parts of the world and provide backup power for life-saving applications in hospitals or disaster-relief scenarios.
Mechanical Integration Engineer (Electronics Packaging)
Radiant is seeking a Mechanical Integration Engineer to own packaging and integration of turbomachinery and electrical systems from requirements capture through operation lifecycle.This role is crucial for ensuring the nuclear microreactor meets structural and safety requirements while optimizing for cost, efficiency, manufacturability, and serviceabiilty. You'll join a dynamic team focusing on the design and development of power conversion and electrical systems converting heat generated from a nuclear reactor to clean, abundant electricity for customers. This role requires strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with various teams within engineering, manufacturing, and validation. You'll play an instrumental role in building Earth's first mass-produced nuclear reactors.
Responsibilities and Duties :
- Contribute to the strategy and packaging of the Powertrain System to meet structural and safety requirements.
- Apply communication and negotiation skills to facilitate discussions between hardware engineering teams.
- Use attention to detail in GD&T analyses and installation drawings to convey assembly intent.
- Promote the use of CAD methods and standard processes within the Powertrain department.
- Define and complete necessary hardware integration verification activities, including CAE, physical mockups, and hardware testing.
