The Coding and Authorizations Team Lead plays a critical dual role within the organization, combining personal client responsibilities with front-line management duties to ensure operational excellence and team success. In this role, the Team Lead oversees assigned client duties, including coding and authorization tasks, while also providing leadership and support to team members. As a key resource, the Team Lead conducts interviews for new hires, monitors team time and attendance, and collaborates with the Manager of Coding and Authorizations and the Director of Shared Services to set and achieve strategic goals.

The Coding and Authorizations Team Lead is ultimately accountable for fostering the growth, development, and success of the team and its individual members. This role requires exemplary communication and leadership skills, consistently embodying the company's ENCORE values in all interactions and ensuring that the team delivers the highest level of service to clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Encourage collaboration, maintain morale and address team dynamics to foster a high-performing team and growth of team members.
  • Assist in onboarding and mentoring new team members to ensure their success in the role.
  • Monitors work production and performance goals for all team members.
  • Regularly review team members’ work to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and client policies.
  • Address and resolve issues escalated by team members or clients related to coding or authorization discrepancies.
  • Conduct team member reviews as needed and make recommendations.
  • Collaborate with Manager of Coding and Authorizations to gather, analyze, and communicate quarterly report card summaries for management and client review.
  • Monitors staff schedule and overtime, approve team members’ time off requests.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for the team, answering complex coding or authorization questions and troubleshooting issues.
  • Works with managers to define client to employee assignments and to maintain cross-coverage assignments for all clients.
  • Reviews processes and provides suggestions for process improvements and efficiencies.
  • Proactively identify industry trends and changes that could impact coding or authorization processes and share updates with the team.
  • Stays up to date on all CPT / HCPCS / ICD-10 code changes and all payer policies and requirements.

  • Requirements :

  • Working knowledge of oncology specific codes and plan rules for commercial, Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid plans.
  • In-depth experience with oncology CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding and rules for Tech / Pro / Global and Freestanding / HOPPS coding.
  • At least 1 year of employment at RBS is required.

  • Ability to lift / carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to sit / stand for long periods of time.

  • Requires mastery of complex language, comprehension, reasoning, and analytical skills typically found in mid to high-level work.
