The Radio Kingston Community Tech Team is seeking an individual to join our staff production team with an in-person commitment of 40 hours per week. This is a full-time salaried position starting at $60k/yr with full health and wellness benefits. We’re looking for someone excited to work with a tight-knit crew who has a passion for amplifying the voices of our community.
The ideal candidate will have experience in live event production, stage crew tasks, and audio-visual equipment setup/operation/breakdown. This role is physically demanding and requires someone experienced in driving large vehicles and handling heavy loads.To be considered for this position, candidates must have a valid driver's license. We’re seeking a highly organized, proactive problem solver who can shift their focus and move through tasks with agility and compassion. About the Radio Kingston Community Tech Team
In addition to our core radio programming produced from our studios, Radio Kingston also responds to community requests for live field broadcasts and technical event support including concerts, festivals, and community gatherings.
Our work is a collaboration with community partners where we apply our technical expertise to support the outcomes that our partners imagine. The Community Tech Team staff and crew are a diverse group experienced in the related skills of audio, video, lighting, and network engineering. We use these skills to serve the community with technical support while continuing to develop and share the experience and knowledge that empowers people to be seen and heard.
About the Role
The Technical Production Associate will oversee and run live event productions in the Kingston Community. This work largely consists of directing crew, assessing equipment needs, prepping, loading, setting up, running, and breaking down events. This position reports to the Technical Production Facilitator.
Anticipated Duties and Expectations
- Lead event prep, load-in/ load-out, production and set up
- Reliable driver with experience driving large vehicles, operating liftgates, and securing loads, having a CDL License is a plus
- Perform various tasks/cues during live productions
- Have a basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical devices and applications
- Assist with handling ropes, wires, cables, and other rigging
- Have the ability and experience working with power tools
- Use of general carpentry and fabrication techniques
- Have the ability to frequently lift/ move up to 50 lbs or greater weights in tandem with additional crew member assistance
- Be able to work comfortably and safely on ladders and at a variety of heights
- Candidates should possess strong communication skills and attention to detail. They are collaborative, self-motivated, and bring a positive, can-do attitude
- Be a good communicator. Bilingual abilities are a plus
- Must be available on nights and weekends
- Have computer skills including Google Docs, Word, and Excel
- Be well-organized & detail-oriented
- Be punctual
