GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES : Responsible for a variety of specialized tasks involved in the performance of CT scans
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Greet patient and provide instructions on procedures.
- Schedule patients for procedures; assist with clerical functions.
- Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of CT scanners, power injectors, and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures. Position patients for CT scans using patient positioning devices and adjusts equipment, selecting length and intensity for radiation exposure on individual basis.
- Prepare and dispense contrast media and barium.
- Ensure equipment is in working order. Report equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
- Perform exams accurately per established protocols, policy, and patient safety standards.
- Evaluate CT scans for technical quality, collate processed images in proper order and appropriately label. Processes related paperwork using computer equipment as directed.
- Provide orientation and training to new CT technologists. Provide education and training to student technologists.
- Provide care for the psychological and physical needs of patients and their families for CT scans.
EDUCATION : Graduate of an AMA approved school of radiologic technology.
EXPERIENCE : Minimum of one-year experience in radiography and / or computed tomography.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURE : Licensed in the State of Florida and ARRT certification in Radiography (RT(R)). Current ARRT certification in Computed Tomography (CT) preferred, or must be obtained within first 12 months of employment in position. BLS Certification.
