GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Verify that insurance pre-authorizations for imaging exams have been obtained prior to the patient’s scheduled appointment date and are valid for the scheduled procedure. The verifier is responsible for requesting authorizations and /or corrections from the referring provider if needed. Must also be able to start authorization process.
- Must communicate effectively and professionally
- Provide quality customer service to all callers.
- Must be proficient with computer skills.
- Handles situations, which may require research and/or troubleshooting
- Work independently in a high volume office
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must have insurance experience.
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: At least one year of previous medical insurance verification experience.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Radiology and medical terminology
- Well-versed in radiology imaging modalities.
- Experience with MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Excellent phone skills with ability to multi-task.
- Strong time management skills
- Reliable
ABILITIES:
- Ability to solve problems and show initiative.
- Ability to work in a cooperative nature within and outside department with staff, patients and families.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to explain insurance requirements and procedures clearly and simply to patients.
