Job Summary
Radiology Services of Hampton Roads is seeking a Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our EARLY SHIFT team (Monday-Friday 12midnight to 8 A.M.) in Chesapeake, VA. The Pharmacy Technician works under the general supervision of the Pharmacist-in-Charge and under the direct supervision of the nuclear Pharmacist on-Duty. The Pharmacy Technician assists the nuclear pharmacists in all routine tasks assoicated with the operation of the nuclear pharmacy, including, but not limited to, working with radioactive pharmaceuticals. The scope of this responsibility specifically does NOT extend to those decisions requiring a pharmacist's judgment.
Qualifications
- Able to lift/carry packages weighing up to 71 lbs.
- Able to work EARLY SHIFT schedule: Monday-Friday 12 midnight to 8 A.M.
- Must hold current Board of Pharmacy credentials as a Registered Pharmacy Technician
- Must hold either current certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or satisfactorily complete a Virginia Board of Pharmacy approved training program and pass a Board of Pharmacy approved examination
- Valid driver's license and a safe driving record
- Acceptable driving record for the past three years (job continuation subject to approval from Radiology Services' auto insurance company)
- Able to communicate well with customers and co-workers and to deal with them in a courteous and tactful manner
- Highly dependable in attendance and job performance
- Must be able to stand continuously for at least three hours
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Compounding, preparation and dispensing radiopharmaceuticals and/or adjunct pharmaceuticals
- Entering prescription information into a computer and generating labels
- Performing appropriate quality control tests on radiopharmaceuticals
- Performing daily and periodic instrumentation tests
- Maintaining sterile compounding work areas in a high state of cleanliness and minimal microbial bioburden
- Providing leadership and guidance to courier staff in applying radiation safety principles (ALARA)
- Receiving verbal orders for diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals
- Monitoring laboratory inventory levels, placing orders and receiving inventory
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Night shift
