Why You’ll Love This Role:
As the Operations Manager, you’ll be the heart of our engineering and project management teams. Your role will be all about empowering your teams, driving collaboration, and optimizing workflows to meet and exceed project goals. You’ll report directly to the Director of Business Operations and work closely with them to deliver detailed progress reports and identify opportunities for improvement.
What You’ll Do:
Lead & Inspire
- Provide daily help and enthusiasm to our project managers and engineers, empowering them to succeed on their projects and in personal growth.
- Oversee designer schedules and priorities, ensuring smooth project workflows.
- Conduct weekly one-on-one check-in meetings to support and guide our project managers and engineers.
Problem-Solve & Optimize
- Attend new project kickoff meetings and provide feedback to ensure project is set up for success
- Collaborate with PG&E to escalate and resolve design issues and scheduling conflicts.
- Work collaboratively to improve internal processes and templates.
- Set transparent expectations about designer timelines and deadlines for emergency work.
- Provide creative solutions to keep projects moving forward and ensure deadlines are met.
Train & Grow the Team
- Oversee training programs and communicate department needs to the Training Manager to ensure new hires get the support they need.
- Serve as a go-to resource for technical questions and guidance on complex designs and facilitate communication with subject matter experts.
- Support career progression and performance reviews for team members by providing performance feedback and holding them accountable to grow through their day-to-day responsibilities.
Collaborate with Leadership
- Report weekly to the Director of Business Operations, keeping them informed of progress and obstacles.
- Provide detailed progress reports and key updates to assist in high-level decision-making.
- Work closely with company leadership to identify areas for improvement and implement effective solutions.
Strategize & Drive Results
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) for the engineering and project management teams.
- Ensure consistent communication between employees and leadership.
- Lead internal meetings to strategize scheduling, share department updates, discuss important issues, and promote teamwork.

- Experience in utility design and AutoCAD is a big plus!
Your Background:
- 5 years of experience in the utility design, architecture, or engineering industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, or construction.
- 1-2 years in a managerial role, with a focus on teamwork, integrity, quality, commitment to clients, employee wellness and operational excellence.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
