Job Description
Position: Sterile Processing Technician
Specialty: Sterile Processing Tech
Location: Petoskey, MI
Start Date: 1/6/2025
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift Type: Afternoons (1:00 PM - 9:30 PM)
Hours/Day: 8 (5 days/week)
Weekend and On-Call Requirements: Weekends and call required with a 30-minute call response time.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, sterilize, install, and clean laboratory or healthcare equipment.
- Assemble equipment for surgeries, exams, and other medical procedures.
- Organize and assemble routine and specialty surgical instrument trays and other sterilized supplies, addressing special requests as needed.
- Clean instruments and medical devices to prepare them for sterilization.
- Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, including steam, ETO, low-temperature gas plasma, peracetic acid, ozone, and dry heat sterilizers.
- Record sterilizer test results and maintain records of sterilization loads and maintenance procedures.
- Disinfect patient care equipment such as infusion machines, suction pumps, and DVT machines.
- Inspect equipment to identify leaks, worn parts, or signs of disrepair.
- Ensure sterile supplies are stored to maintain sterility and check that packaging is uncompromised.
- Maintain accurate inventory and equipment usage records.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in sterile processing – Required.
- Travel experience – Required.
- Certification: HSPA (IAHCSMM) – Preferred (will accept CBSPD).
Additional Information:
This position is subject to a strict attendance policy:
- Employees who are absent or more than 20 minutes late for their scheduled shift three times may face immediate termination, effective as of 6/1/2024.
- Exceptions may be made for hospitalizations or communicable diseases with proper documentation.
