What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Data Engineer position at Radley James?
We’re working with a multi-strategy hedge fund in New York that we’ve partnered with for over 10 years, making several successful placements across their technology and quant teams. They’ve seen tremendous success in recent years, and as they continue to scale, they’re looking for a data engineer to help strengthen their data infrastructure and support their growing trading strategies.
What you’ll be doing:
- Building and maintaining data pipelines and ETL processes to support quant and fundamental strategies.
- Collaborating with quants, portfolio managers, and software engineers to deliver scalable, high-performance data solutions.
- Optimizing data architecture for efficiency, reliability, and speed.
- Implementing data quality controls and validation processes.
- Working with a mix of market, reference, and alternative datasets.
What we’re looking for:
- 5 years of experience as a data engineer in finance (buy-side, sell-side, or fintech).
- Strong programming skills in Python or Java, plus solid SQL proficiency.
- Experience with data pipeline tools like Airflow, Apache Spark, or Kafka.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and data lakes.
- Exposure to financial data and market structures is a plus.
