What are the responsibilities and job description for the Developmental Specialist I or II - Developmental Screening & Enhancement Program position at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego?
This is a casual, grant funded position which is subject to renewal by 06/30/2026

JOB SUMMARY (Dev. Spec I):
Under general supervision, provides clinical services (screening, assessment, treatment planning, and/or intervention support) for children. Provides educational information to patients, parents and families regarding their child's developmental needs. Responds differentially to children based upon the child's age, understanding of the child's developmental level/abilities/disabilities, and cultural considerations. Serves as a liaison with community referral sources including physicians – offices and/or other treatment professionals to facilitate clinical and treatment options. Provides marketing and administrative support to program by producing flyers, handouts, and training materials and entering documentation into the computer database.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in related discipline
6 months of experience in field related to area of specialty
BLS for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHA
Computer skills sufficient to perform data entry, electronic charting, production of educational materials, and word processing
Valid California Driver's License and Auto Insurance (if applicable)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Additional education beyond undergraduate degree related to area of specialty
Bilingual English/Spanish

Responds differentially to children based upon the child’s age, understanding of the child’s developmental level/abilities/disabilities, and cultural considerations. Serves as a liaison with community referral sources including physicians’ offices and/or other treatment professionals to facilitate clinical and treatment options. Provides marketing support to program by producing flyers, handouts, and training materials. Enters service documentation into computer database.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree in related discipline
Valid CA driver's license and auto insurance (if applicable)
Two years of experience
Current BLS for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHA
Demonstrated competency in varied treatment modalities for children with special needs
Computer skills sufficient to perform data entry, electronic charting, production of educational materials, and word processing
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Three years of experience
Bilingual English/Spanish
The current salary range for the Dev. Spec. I position is $25.47 to $35.03
The current salary range for the Devl Spec. II position is $28.09 to $38.62
