Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to oversee our financial operations and ensure the integrity of our financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in corporate accounting and financial management, with a solid understanding of accounting software. This role is critical in guiding our financial strategy, managing cash flow, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Ensure financial reporting is accurate and timely.
- General Ledger Management: Manage the general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately. Oversee journal entries, accruals, and month-end close processes.
- Account Reconciliation: Supervise the reconciliation of all major accounts, including cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Financial Analysis & Forecasting: Lead financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting activities, providing insights into the organization’s financial performance and helping guide future business strategies.
- Internal Controls & Compliance: Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets. Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax laws.
- Audit Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits. Ensure timely and accurate preparation of audit schedules, documentation, and reports.
- Tax Compliance & Reporting: Oversee the preparation of all corporate tax filings, including sales taxes and other state or local taxes. Ensure compliance with all tax laws and regulations.
- Staff Supervision & Development: Manage the accounting team, providing leadership, mentoring, and professional development. Ensure that the team maintains high standards of accuracy, efficiency, and ethical conduct.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to increase the efficiency of financial operations. Automate and streamline financial workflows where possible.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor the company’s cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operations and planning for future financial needs.
- Financial Systems Oversight: Manage and maintain financial software systems (ERP, accounting software), ensuring they are up-to-date and functioning efficiently.
- Risk Management: Assist in identifying financial risks and work with senior management to develop strategies to mitigate those risks.
- Strategic Support: Provide senior management with financial insights and recommendations to aid in strategic decision-making, including new initiatives, expansions, or cost-saving measures.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA, CMA, or similar certification preferred).
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP), tax laws, and financial regulations.
- Extensive experience with financial reporting, general ledger management, and budgeting.
- Commitment to learning company software.
- Experience managing OSHA compliance, Workers' Compensation claims, and regulatory reporting.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and develop a team.
- Experience in risk management, financial analysis, and process improvement.
