Our client is a leading self-performing, full-scope site development contractor. Scope items performed are: Clearing/Grubbing, Erosion and Sediment Control, Drilling/Blasting, Earthwork/Excavation, Wet Utility Installation, Dry Utility Installation, Site Concrete, Asphalt Paving.
They have offices in Manassas, VA; Richmond, VA; Columbus, OH and projects in 5 states (VA, PA, MD, OH, IN). They have been in business for over 20 years and have become the leading site contractor for the data center industry. They work on parcels ranging from 20-100 acres.
This position will report to the Director of Project Management and will be responsible for working with and mentoring a Field Engineer. Their Project Managers manage 2-5 individual projects at one time (ranging in size/scale) with a total value of $20-100M.
They are looking to hire a Project Manager based out of the following locations:
- Mecklenberg County, VA
- Richmond, VA (project work in all surrounding areas to possibly include Mecklenberg area as/if
needed)
Duties and responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of a Construction Project Manager are to plan and supervise a wide range of
construction projects from start to finish. You will organize and oversee construction procedures and ensure they are
completed in a timely and efficient manner. An excellent Construction Project Manager must be well-versed in all
construction procedures and able to coordinate a team of professionals of different disciplines to achieve the best
results. The ideal candidate will have an analytical mind and great organizational skills. The goal will be to ensure
all projects are delivered on time according to requirements and without exceeding budget.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects etc. to determine the specifications of the project
• Negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements
• Obtain permits and licenses from appropriate authorities
• Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to
budgetary limitations
• Plan all construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met
• Acquire equipment and material and monitor stocks to timely handle inadequacies
• Hire contractors and other staff and allocate responsibilities
• Supervise the work of laborers, mechanics etc. and give them guidance when needed
• Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports
• Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues
• Candidates who are willing to travel for projects would be highly desirable, but not required.
Requirements:
• BSc/BA degree in Civil Engineering, Building Science, Engineering, Construction BSc/BA in engineering,
building science or relevant field
• PMP or equivalent certification will be an advantage
