ABOUT THE ROLE
RSGS is seeking a highly skilled, senior Engineer to support the development of an interceptor for the Indirect Fire Protection Capability 2nd Interceptor (IFPC Inc 2) 2nd Interceptor Feasibility Study, Design and Demonstrate program. This is a key, plank-holder role that reports to the VP of Engineering and will have responsibility for performing engineering analyses to inform trade studies and system optimizations, and generating design requirements; managing models and simulations, and supporting the design, integration and test to ensure successful program execution. Our solution will be based on the Tamir, the interceptor for the legendary Iron Dome system.
The ideal candidate will have experience in missiles and missile defense; will work closely with both commercial and government agencies and including IPTs; have experience efficiently meeting program objectives and communicate effectively with stakeholders at multiple levels.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Technical Director for this program, you will understand the requirements and preferences of Program Executive Office Missiles and Space, Short and Intermediate Effectors for Layered Defense (PEO SHIELD), and lead the integration of 2nd Interceptor for the IFPC system.
Tasks include developing system and performance models, performing risk management, and providing support to the program manager and subcontractors. You will support the development of simulation resources for digital simulations, high-fidelity fly-out simulations, and HWIL simulations. Additionally, you will support RSGS as we establish an IDE, CM, and simulation resources.
SKILLS
PhD 10 years’ experience, Master’s degree 15 years’ experience, or a bachelor’s degree 20 years’ experience in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or related fields.
Experience in systems engineering, missile defense, embedded systems, modeling and simulation, and validation. Experience in flight and guidance and controls, and simulation tools, including 6DOF, for interception systems from the detection stage to the impact.
Familiarity with MIL-STD compliance and Department of Defense risk management guidelines.
Knowledge of model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools such as SysML and Magic Draw; MATLAB/Simulink, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), C , and real-time operating systems like VxWorks.
Desired skills include familiarity with Weapon Open Systems Architecture (WOSA), Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) architecture, and Cybersecurity Analysis (CSA).
Experience with interceptor weapon systems, software integration, DevSecOps, and technical baseline management is a plus.
