Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Sommelier to join our team. As our Sommelier, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our guests' dining experience through your extensive wine knowledge and exceptional service skills.
- Curate and maintain an extensive wine list that complements our menu and meets our guests' preferences
- Provide friendly, responsive, and educational wine service to create an exceptional dining experience for all guests
- Offer expert recommendations on wine pairings to enhance guests' meal choices
- Manage wine storage including inventory control, stock rotation, and temperature monitoring
- Conduct staff training sessions on wine knowledge, service techniques, and food pairing principles
- Collaborate with the chef and management team to develop wine programs and special events
- Maintain relationships with wine suppliers and stay informed about industry trends
- Ensure proper wine service, including decanting, temperature control, and glassware selection
- Assist in creating and updating the restaurant's wine menu and promotional materials
- Monitor and analyze wine sales data to optimize inventory and pricing strategies
- Assist with general floor service duties
Qualifications
- Certification from a recognized sommelier program (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers)
- Extensive knowledge of wines, spirits, and cocktails from various regions and styles
- Previous experience as a Sommelier in a fine dining environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-focused approach
- Proficiency in food and wine pairing principles
- Physical stamina to work long hours in a standing position and ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Impeccable grooming standards and professional appearance
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to food and beverage service
