Our team has an outstanding opportunity for a General Counsel to support our Texas division. This position will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters related to our construction operations, including contract management, regulatory compliance, claims, litigation, and risk mitigation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction law, contract negotiation, and dispute resolution.
The General Counsel will report on-site to our North Richland Hills Office.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Provide legal counsel on all company operations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Draft, review, and negotiate prime contracts, subcontracts, joint venture agreements, purchase orders, and consulting agreements.
- Manage and resolve claims, disputes, and litigation, including mechanic's liens, delay claims, and contract disputes.
- Oversee compliance with OSHA, DOT, environmental regulations, and labor laws.
- Represent the company in mediation, arbitration, and litigation, working with outside counsel as needed.
- Respond to Notice of Cure and Notice of Default letters for subcontractors and suppliers.
- Assist HR in handling employment law matters, including worker classification, wage laws, and safety compliance.
- Manage insurance claims, bonding requirements, and regulatory filings.
- Conduct legal research and risk assessments to protect the company's interests.
- Develop and implement legal policies, training, and best practices.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Licensed Attorney in the State of Texas.
- Experience in construction law, contract negotiation, and claims management. (Preferred)
- Strong understanding of heavy civil construction contracts (e.g., TXDOT contracts, public works agreements). (Preferred)
- Experience handling claims, lawsuits, and regulatory compliance within the construction industry.
- Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, DBE, and Davis-Bacon Act regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and collaborate across departments.
