Duties
- Advocate for clients in all family law disputes.
- Negotiate a host of issues including but not limited to issues of child custody, spousal support, marriage dissolution, and other issues as it relates to family law.
- Go to trial regarding family law issues in the event that negotiations fail.
- Assist attorneys in the preparation of legal documents related to family law matters, including divorce, custody, and support agreements.
- Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as Westlaw to support case strategies.
- Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal correspondence with precision.
- Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all documents are up-to-date and accessible.
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and provide updates on case progress.
- Prepare for court hearings by compiling relevant documentation and evidence.
- Negotiate settlements under the guidance of attorneys when appropriate.
- Collaborate with other legal professionals to ensure comprehensive case management.
Requirements
- Previous Family Law experience
- Strong writing skills with the ability to draft clear and concise legal documents.
- Familiarity with legal drafting techniques and procedures.
- Proficient in conducting legal research using platforms such as Westlaw.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with clients and colleagues.
