Shop Position - Athens, GA
Job Summary
RAI is seeking full-time, experienced Structural Fitters for our Athens location.
Essential Functions
· Adhere to all safety procedures related to working with power tools, forklifts, overhead cranes, welders, cutting torches and wearing proper PPE.
· Accurately interpret blueprints to understand layout and positioning of components.
· Precisely marking layout lines with squares, measuring tapes and angle finders to tack components in place ensuring proper fit and tolerances.
· Inspecting welds and assembled structures for defects and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
· Proficient in various metal fabrication techniques including welding, flame and plasma cutting, grinding and bending.
Education and Experience
- 3 – 5 years’ structural fitting experience preferred
- Flux core welding experience preferred
Work Environment/Physical Demands
- Day Shift Schedule: Typically 6am-4:30pm Monday-Friday, with some Saturdays required. Overtime hours available
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for extended periods and safely maneuver around various construction equipment and vehicles on an active construction site
- Regularly encounter moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and a variety of outside weather conditions
- Ability to climb temporary or permanent stairs and ladders
- Able to bend, squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, balance, stoop, and reach regularly
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
