Overview:
Rail Explorers (REX) Division will employ a highly qualified leader as an Assistant Division Manager to work in conjunction with the Division Manager and other REX community leaders. As part of the leadership team, this is a high-profile position that is tasked with ensuring the highest level of safety and guest experience. Rail Explorers will require you to take First Aid CPR training and OSHA 10, which we will pay for. Must maintain a professional appearance and have a calm and welcoming demeanor for staff and customers.
Peak operational season is April - October. Must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
- Safety is first and last with every activity. Ensure all work plans support this mission.
- Assist Division Manager supports the Division Manager in leading a highly efficient team in line with REX culture and operational guidelines.
- Establish a cohesive relationship with the Cooperstown and Charlotte Valley Railroad, and all of their employees, including volunteers.
- Lead and help DM train and motivate staff as tour guides and REX customer experience representatives; lead by example.
- Responsible for ensuring all the guides are proficiently trained in all areas of customer experience relations: phones, reception and beyond.
- Responsible for ensuring all the guides are neatly attired in REX uniforms and safe footwear every day.
- Assists DM with staff scheduling and payroll tracking.
- Ensure the Tour Captains have set up the tour correctly and within a timely manner.
- Work closely with REX guides to ensure the quality and safety of all tours and customer experiences.
- When needed: work in any customer service position on site, such as working the guest ‘check in’ desk to greet people as they arrive for tours.
- Responsible for learning booking system operations and monitoring sales reports.
- Provide and conduct continuous training for guides as required by Rail Explorers.
- Inventory Ensure merchandise is stored in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Maintain and uphold cash handling practices at reception and behind-the-scenes in partnership with the DM.
- Conduct monthly audits with DM of inventory: employee apparel, items for bikes and other guest necessities, to ensure tours are experienced in a safe, secure and enjoyable fashion.
- Will often function as the Manager on Duty (MOD).
- Advise the DM immediately of any situation that may warrant immediate attention affecting the daily operations due to safety, weather, irreconcilable customer grievance, or other unforeseen circumstances.
- During the non-operational months work with DM on marketing efforts and attend meetings, relevant conferences.
- Help in any other means to assist the DM with overall success of your specified division.
