Job Summary: As the Area Engineering Manager at RailPros, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our area through comprehensive oversight and leadership. Your primary responsibilities include enhancing client relationships, optimizing financial performance, and fostering team development, ensuring RailPros remains a leader in the industry.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Prospecting Future Clients & Opportunities (Cross-Selling):

  • Identify and pursue potential clients and business opportunities within the area.
  • Promote cross-selling initiatives and collaboration across different service lines.

BD & Sales Tracking & Prioritization:

  • Monitor and prioritize business development and sales activities to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with the Business Development team to enhance client engagement and satisfaction.

Regional Industry Events, Sponsorships, Attendance:

  • Participate in regional industry events and conferences to expand network and visibility.
  • Secure sponsorship opportunities to strengthen RailPros' regional presence.

Monitor Client/Project Financial Performance:

  • Work with finance and project management teams to monitor client accounts and project financials.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement and report findings to the Regional VP.

Coordinate Resource Needs, Staff Forecasting, Hiring:

  • Assess resource needs for projects and oversee the hiring process to ensure optimal team composition.
  • Ensure appropriate allocation of talent across projects to meet client expectations and deadlines.

Promote Employee Mentoring and Engagement:

  • Foster a supportive work environment through mentoring and professional development opportunities.
  • Organize team engagement activities to enhance morale and cohesion.

Advance Communications – Office and Corporate:

  • Develop and implement effective communication strategies to ensure seamless information flow.
  • Foster transparent communication channels to promote alignment and efficiency.

Identify Training - Internal & External:

  • Identify and coordinate training programs to enhance team skills and knowledge.
  • Ensure team members are up-to-date on industry best practices and regulatory changes.

 

Secondary Responsibilities:

Organizational Leadership:

  • Contribute to organizational leadership initiatives and strategic decision-making.
  • Support RailPros’ growth through proactive leadership and innovation.

Awards Nominations:

  • Nominate individuals and projects for industry recognition and awards.

Help Define Annual Sales Goals:

  • Collaborate with management to set realistic and achievable annual sales targets.

Contract/Client Management – Meetings, Resolution, Annual Surveys:

  • Manage client contracts, facilitate meetings, and address issues to maintain client satisfaction.
  • Gather client feedback through surveys for continuous improvement.

Monitor Client Invoicing (WIP/AR):

  • Oversee invoicing processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

Supervisors/Org Chart Including Raises/Bonuses:

  • Participate in decisions regarding raises and bonuses to reward and retain top talent.

Regional Support Needs (Corporate Services):

  • Collaborate with corporate departments to address operational support needs, such as proposals and marketing.

Growth Tracking and Planning:

  • Analyze growth trends and plan for additional resources or office space to support operations.

Assists with Office Budget/Area Costs/EBITDA:

  • Monitor and manage the area’s budget, ensuring financial health and alignment with objectives.

Operations Costs Management:

  • Optimize operational costs like rent and utilities while maintaining quality standards.

Monitors Overhead/Indirect Multiplier Management:

  • Implement strategies to manage overhead costs and ensure productivity.

 

Supporting Roles:

Identify National Conference Papers/Presentations:

  • Highlight opportunities to showcase RailPros’ expertise at national conferences.

Leadership, Management, Client Relations:

  • Provide leadership to foster client relationships and team collaboration.

Assist in Project Reviews:

  • Ensure quality delivery, client satisfaction, and adherence to standards during project reviews.

Supports Scope and Pricing Reviews:

  • Review project scopes and pricing to optimize profitability and client satisfaction.

Qualifications:


Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) or equivalent.
  • Proven leadership experience in regional or departmental roles.
  • Strong project management and budgeting skills.
  • Excellent communication, mentoring, and presentation abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of the engineering industry and trends.
  • 10-15 years of industry experience.

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree.
  • 20 years of prior experience.
