What Engineers Can Expect from the RailPros Internship Program

The RailPros Internship Program provides hands-on learning and professional development in the rail industry.

• Kickoff Event: Start with a virtual orientation introducing the program and leadership.
• Lunch & Learn Sessions: Gain insights on engineering topics like track, civil, and traffic from industry experts.
• Field Visits: Experience real-world engineering and construction projects.
• Networking: Participate in office events and professional association lunches (e.g., WTS, ASCE).
• National Intern Day: Present your work to leadership and stand out for recognition opportunities.
• Mentorship: Work with mentors on meaningful projects to build technical and professional skills.
• This program prepares you for a successful engineering career with real-world exposure and expert guidance.

Qualifications:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Project Coordination: Assist in coordinating project activities to ensure alignment with project goals, timelines, and budgets.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate project documentation, including progress reports, meeting minutes, and project plans; prepare regular updates for stakeholders.
• Communication: Act as a liaison, facilitating effective communication between project team members, clients, and stakeholders to ensure seamless information flow.
• Schedule Management: Contribute to developing and maintaining project schedules; monitor progress and address any timeline deviations.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams (engineers, architects, contractors) to achieve project milestones.
• Learning and Development: Utilize this internship to gain insights into civil engineering project management.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Proficiency in electronic communication (e-mail, text) and standard office software (Microsoft Office Suite)
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
• Ability to work independently in a dynamic work environment
• Strong team collaboration skills
• High attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and commitment to accuracy
• Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies

Required Education and Experience:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Construction Management from an ABET/EAC accredited program
• No prior railroad experience required
