SUMMARY
Rainbow Cafe LGBTQ Center is seeking a highly motivated and organized Community Center Manager. The CCM will oversee community programming, daily operations, and financial resources of the Community Center; be responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs; and manage Community Center staff and volunteers.
The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator and conscientious leader who can ensure community and youth services are successful. This person should also have a clear passion for working with the LGBTQIA community, especially youth, and for the overall mission of Rainbow Cafe LGBTQ Center.
This is a part-time position (approx. 20 hours/week) paid at $18 per hour through the 90-day Introductory Period for new employees.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Community Center Management
- Schedule building usage by internal groups and community partners
- Ensure the employees, clients, and community partners maintain the cleanliness and organization of the Community Center
- Organize, order, and inventory merchandise and pantry items within the established budget.
Staff Management
- Establish and oversee shift tasks for employees assigned to the Community Center
- Collaborate with Director(s) to ensure adequate coverage of shifts, programming, and events
- Maintain professional, respectful, trauma-informed and collaborative workplace culture
Volunteer Management
- Coordinate and facilitate trainings for volunteers, as needed
- Schedule and coordinate volunteers for events or planned activities
- Conduct volunteer recruitment, outreach, and engagement activities
Program Management
- Collaborate with the Director(s) to develop new programs and expand and enhance existing programs
- Establish clear, measurable goals for Community Center programs and assess program performance in collaboration with the Director(s)
- Assess the needs of the Community Center and work with the Director(s) to address service gaps while working within the program budget
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards when it comes to working with youth and families
Administrative Support
- Prepare Manager reports to a Director for monthly Rainbow Cafe Board meetings, and
- Assess employee performance and provide constructive feedback and mentorship to employees regularly
- Regularly provide constructive feedback and mentorship to employees
Grant Management
- Seek out grant opportunities from online sources, word-of-mouth, community partners, and any other relevant sources
- Collaborate with the Director(s) to apply for, justify, document, and manage grants
- Ensure Rainbow Cafe operations are compliant with and participating in active grant requirements
- Ensure the Treasurer and external accountants have the necessary information to create, maintain, monitor, and audit budgets
Community Relations
- Represent Rainbow Cafe to external groups to improve the visibility, credibility, and reach of the organization
- Cultivate and maintain partnerships with community groups and stakeholders that can support the Rainbow Cafe mission
- Participate in external events, meetings, networking opportunities and committees to support Rainbow Cafe partnerships (e.g. advocacy groups, state and county resources, and healthcare providers)
- Publicize the organization’s mission, ongoing projects, and upcoming events to current and potential community partners
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years of business and/or staff management experience
- Able to pass a DCFS background check
- Willing to complete Mandated Reporter training through the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, and to adhere the responsibilities of that status
- First aid, CPR and bloodborne pathogens (BBP) certified (if not certified, must be willing to undergo training and be able to pass the certification)
- Passionate about community advocacy and linking community members to services through Rainbow Cafe/Rainbow Community Health & Wellness, or other community organization and partners
- Willing to pursue and complete additional trainings, certifications, credentials, and continuing education relevant to employment and as determined by the Director(s)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to work independently or collaboratively
- Prior experience working with youth, children, families, and/or community members
- Prior experience working with LGBTQIA organizations highly preferred
INTRODUCTORY PERIOD
- The first 90 days is considered an introductory period for new employees
- During this period, the employee will become familiar with Rainbow Cafe and their specific job responsibilities and the employee’s supervisor will monitor and evaluate their performance
- Successful completion of the introductory period may result in increased hours or hourly pay
- Completion of this introductory period does not imply guaranteed or continued employment
- Nothing that occurs during or after this period should be construed to change the nature of the “at-will” employment relationship
