Early Childhood Assistant Teacher

TWO PART TIME POSITIONS AVAILABLE: MORNING CLASS ASSISTANT TEACHER (shifts starts at 8:00 a.m. and ends between 1:30 and 2 p.m) AND AFTERNOON CLASS ASSISTANT TEACHER (shift starts at 12 p.m. and ends between 4:30 and 5pm). Both positions are for 4 days per week (Mondays through Thursdays).

Candidates who are interested in working a full day (both classes) please ask. We have yet another assistant retiring in 2026 so we are open to discussing long term options.

We have two teachers retiring from the classroom at the end of this school year, so Rainbow Montessori School in Woodinville is seeking an assistant teacher for our 8:45 - 12:45 class AND for our 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. class. We are beginning interviews now and we plan to complete our hiring by June and do approximately 2 weeks of training in before school ends this year. The position officially starts in the last week of August 2025 with our 3 teacher cleaning days before school starts in September.

SCHEDULE:

• We are a Monday - Thursday pre-school, pre-K and Kindergarten Montessori school.

• We follow the Northshore School District calendar.

• Teachers have most Fridays off; and Saturdays, Sundays, and regular school calendar breaks off, including summers (we are closed for the summer).

• We work Fridays very rarely–as make-up days for snow closures, and two Fridays in spring for our school festivals. However, it is important that you are able to work these occasional Fridays. We collectively decide as a staff which Fridays to schedule when we have snow day to make up, and we determine these dates well in advance.

• The shift for the MORNING position STARTS at 8:00 a.m. and usually ends around 1:30 p.m. Some days we get done sooner, some days we have extra prep to attend to before leaving. End of shift is no later than 2pm.

• The shift for the AFTERNOON position STARTS at 12 p.m. and usually ends between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m. Some days we get done sooner, some days we have extra prep to attend to before leaving. End of shift is no later than 5pm.

• The teaching contract begins with our teacher cleaning days in late August and ends on the last day of school after our all-school picnic in mid-late June.

PAY:

Starting pay: minimum $20/hour, DOE. Paychecks are given monthly at the end of each month. Hours average 20-25 hours per week.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must love children! Experience is a plus, but we train on the job. Patience, kindness, and a joy of working with children are the makings of a great teacher from any background.

• Must be up-to-date on all vaccination requirements.

• Must sign a waiver for a complete background check.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Greet the parents and the students as they come in; handle check in and check out at the door.

• Support the lead teacher with crafts and projects for the students during class.

• Help with classroom overview, oversee snack, help with lunches, occasionally assist children in the bathroom (including occasional bathroom accidents), and participate in recess.

• Shift includes 30-60 minutes of preparations before class and 30-60 minutes of cleanup after class.
