JOB SUMMARY
The Community Outreach Specialist identifies and coordinates all aspects of Rainbows United volunteer activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (RESPONSIBILITIES):
- Identifies and coordinates all aspects of Rainbows volunteer activities.
- Tracks, monitors and reports volunteer data using the volunteer database.
- Manages volunteer recognition and retention efforts.
- Organizes Friends of the Heart recruitment, retention and engagement, manages communications and committees.
- Participates in community events to promote Agency volunteer opportunities and recruit volunteers.
- Increases Agency visibility by conducting tours and coordinating outreach booths at events and fairs.
- Supports Development efforts by researching information, setting appointments, and sending correspondence.
- Provides content for monthly e-newsletter for volunteers.
- Provides updates for online content.
- Solicits in-kind donations for volunteer activities and special events.
- Interacts effectively with Agency staff and the public in a professional manner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Public Relations or related field.
- Previous experience preferred.
SKILLS:
- Must be a self-starter and work independently as well as a great team player.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Excellent people skills.
- Ability to perform work tasks within the physical demand requirements as outlined below.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal & communication skills required.
- Experience supporting executive level staff & Board in a non-profit organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and excellent problem solving skills required.
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
WORK PACE: Self-paced, requiring the ability to think and act quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced, demanding work environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position operates in a professional office environment, utilizing standard office equipment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
May require frequent extended work days. Requires some travel between RUI sites, other community agencies and throughout the state.
Sitting: 6 - 7 hours in an 8 hour work shift; may occasionally alternate to standing or walking.
Standing: 1 - 2 hours in an 8 hour work shift. Alternates to sitting on a frequent basis
Walking: 1/2 - 1 hour in an 8 hour work shift.
