JOB SUMMARY
The Early Childhood Special Education Teacher works with young children, with and without developmental disabilites and their families in classroom settings. This individual must have a genuine interest in working with children and their families.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (RESPONSIBILITIES):
- Develops and implements effective treatment plans in coordination with other team members.
- Develops individual plans with the family.
- Works with the transdisciplinary team to achieve the educational and developmental goals of the child.
- Maintains records as required.
- Conducts developmental assessments.
- Completes required task in a timely manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds in person.
- Ability to determine and identify items and children in the periphery, near, and far visual fields.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education required.
- Certification in ECH, ECD, ECSE or ECU required.
- Prior experience working with children with special needs preferred.

- Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment.
- Works effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to work effectively with parents, children, public, and other professionals.
- Ability to perform work tasks within the physical demand requirements as outlined below.
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
STATUS: This position is a full-time role with a Monday through Friday schedule
WORK PACE: Self-paced, requiring the ability to think and act quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced, demanding work environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position operates in the Early Care and Education center, and community settings as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
May require frequent extended work days.
Sitting: 6 - 7 hours in an 8 hour work shift; may occasionally alternate to standing or walking.
Standing: 1 - 2 hours in an 8 hour work shift. Alternates to sitting on a frequent basis
Walking: 1/2 - 1 hour in an 8 hour work shift.
